Asian Barber Melbourne for Fades, Fringes and Perms
Pat grew up in Malaysia and has been cutting hair since he was 14. Thick, straight, dense Asian hair is what he works with every week at his private studio in Springvale, in Melbourne’s south east. Clients travel from all over Melbourne for it.
Why Asian Hair Needs a Different Approach
Asian hair is often thick, straight and dense. Cut it too short in the wrong spot and it sticks straight out. Thin it the wrong way and it puffs up a week later.
That is why plenty of clients come to Pat after a cut somewhere else did not sit right. The fade needs more blending through the dense areas, and the top needs weight taken out in the right places so it sits flat and moves the way you want.
Every appointment starts with a quick chat. Where your hair sticks up, how it grows at the crown, and how you style it in the morning. The cut is planned around that, not around a template.

Asian Haircuts Pat Does Every Week
These are the Asian haircuts Melbourne clients book most at the studio. If you are not sure which one suits you, bring a photo and Pat will tell you what will work with your hair.
Korean-Style Fringe
Soft fringes and modern Korean-inspired shapes. The fringe is cut so it sits naturally on your forehead instead of splitting or flicking up.
Low Taper Fade
Clean around the ears and neckline, with enough length left at the sides to grow out well. A good fit for thick hair that grows fast.
Skin Fade
Down to the skin with a smooth blend into dense hair, so there is no dark band where the clippers stop.
Perm and Texture
Adds movement and volume to straight hair so it is easier to style each day. From $200 to $350 depending on length.
Textured Cut
Scissor and clipper work that takes bulk out of thick hair so it sits flat and holds its shape between visits.
Kids and Teens
A calm, private studio with one client at a time. Easier for kids who do not like busy barbershops.

A Barber Who Grew Up With It
Pat grew up in Malaysia and picked up scissors at 14. He moved to Australia at 19, found barbering, and opened his private studio in Springvale at 26.
Growing up around Asian hair and working in south east Melbourne means he has cut every texture. Straight, wavy, curly, thick and fine. He knows how dense hair reacts to clippers because he has lived with it.
Worth the Trip From Across Melbourne
Finding an Asian barber in Melbourne who gets thick, straight hair right every time is harder than it should be. That is why Pat is the Asian barber Melbourne clients travel to Springvale for, and why most of his regulars do not live around the corner.
Regulars come from Noble Park, Dandenong, Clayton and right across Melbourne’s south east, and plenty travel further. The studio is on Windsor Ave in Springvale, a short walk from the station, with directions and hours on the contact page.

Asian Barber FAQs
Can Pat cut Korean-style hairstyles?
Yes. Fringe styles and modern Korean-inspired looks are some of the most booked cuts at the studio. Bring a photo if you have one.
My hair sticks up after short haircuts. Can you fix that?
In most cases, yes. Dense hair sticks up when it is cut too short in the wrong area, usually around the crown or above the ears. Pat leaves the right length in those spots and blends around them.
How much is a perm?
A hair perm with a cut is $200 to $350, depending on your hair length. The exact price is confirmed when you book.
Do I need to book?
Yes. The studio is appointment only, one client at a time. There are no walk-ins.
Where is the studio?
8A Windsor Ave, Springvale VIC 3171, in Melbourne’s south east. It is about a 7-minute walk from Springvale Station. Clients also come from Noble Park, Dandenong and Clayton. See directions and hours.
Is it worth the trip from other parts of Melbourne?
Most clients think so. Many come from outside Springvale because they want a barber who knows Asian hair. The studio is a short walk from Springvale Station on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines, and there is street parking nearby. Because it is appointment only, you sit down at your booked time with no waiting.
